Pictures - Nakum (Mayan site)
Nakum is a Maya site in Guatemala. It covers an area of one kilometer long and five wide, on the banks of the Holmul river. Divided into two sections and the Périgny road (a 26 meters wide road, named after the French explorer who discovered the site in 1905).
Nakum is one of the few Mayan cities where many buildings have been restored. One can get a very good idea of what it was like when the ancient Mayan people lived there.
The site was abandoned by the Mayans around the year 950.
