Pictures - Sian Ka'an Reserve
Sian Ka'an is a biosphere reserve in the province of Quintana Roo, in the extreme east of Mexico. It is a national park since 1986 and a world heritage since 1987. The name Sian Ka''an is Mayan and means "gift from heaven."
Sian Ka''an partly lies in the Caribbean Sea, making a number atolls are part of the reserve. Moreover, in the reserve has 23 Maya Ruins (possibly even more, but 23 have been found). The reserve covers an area of 5280 km ². With beautiful beaches and abundant wildlife it is indeed a gift from heaven!
